Communications Volunteer

The Women and Planning Division seeks a volunteer to provide communications support services for a three month performance period (July - September 2025) with an option to extend the position for up to one (1) additional year (through September 2026). The initial three month term includes a $650 monthly stipend, for a total of $1,950.00.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Creative and willing to take initiative and propose/explore new ideas.
  • Understands and is committed to the Division’s mission and goals.
  • Ability to create content in various communications formats (e.g., content for various platforms (e.g., website, social media, emails, newsletters, blog posts, fundraising).
  • Proficiency with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva).
  • Knowledge of social media best practices, including the ability to generate and schedule content.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platform functions (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
  • Familiarity with simple web editing platforms (e.g., Wagtail, Wordpress).

Responsibilities

The Communications Volunteer reports directly to the Division’s Director of Communications to support the communications functions including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Developing consistent templates/ branding for a variety of Division communications (email, newsletters, social media, website).
  • Coordinating with the Division’s Executive Committee members and other volunteers to develop content, manage deadlines, etc.
  • Soliciting and editing member content for newsletters, events, website, and emails.
  • Helping develop and manage the monthly communications calendar.
  • Creating and managing social media content.
  • Organizing the Division's communications archive including documents and graphics assets.
  • Building/organizing the Division’s image library.
  • Providing graphic and/or brief text content for monthly website updates.
  • Supporting targeted communication campaigns throughout the period of performance (ex. award opportunities, webinars, etc.).
  • Providing recommendations improving member communications (ex. building email workflows).
