NPC26 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Student Scholarship

APA's Divisions Council seeks to encourage a diversity of planners to participate in divisions, starting as early as possible in their professional journey. To support this goal, Divisions Council established the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Scholarship Program awarding $1,000 to one student member in each of APA's population-based Divisions to attend the annual National Planning Conference (April 25-April 28, 2026 in Detroit, MI).

The Women & Planning Division will award one (1) $1,000 scholarship for an eligible student to attend NPC26 in Detroit, MI on April 25-29, 2026.

The scholarship nominee will be contacted via email by February 20, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

1) Applicant must be an enrolled student at an accredited planning school.

2) Applicant must represent a historically underrepresented population in the planning field.

3) Applicant must be a current member of one or more of APA's population-based divisions: a) Planning and the Black Community, b) Women and Planning, c) Latinos and Planning, d) LGBTQ and Planning, and e) Tribal and Indigenous Planning. Division membership is free to students.

4) Applicant agrees to: a) Create NPC-related content for the nominating division, (e.g., a blog post, article about the conference, etc., CLICK HERE for example content), and b) Assist the division by serving a one-hour shift at the Divisions Booth and/or supporting other Division-sponsored events at NPC.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please note: This scholarship is disbursed to the recipient in two payments of $500 each. The first will be disbursed prior to the conference and the second immediately following the conference. Recipients must submit IRS Form W-9 to APA before payments can be issued. Recipient's acceptance of award shall be considered their acknowledgment of these terms.
